Classes run year-round, are drop-in friendly for all levels of experience and ability. Because classes are drop-in friendly, you are not locked into one class or class time. Feel free to attend any class that interests you and fits with your schedule. Children can attend starting at age 8 as long as they are with a parent. Children 14 and up do not need a parent along to attend.
Classes will develop alignment, strength, flexibility, endurance, and cultivate awareness. The outcome of a successful yoga practice is deep relaxation. Various props such as blocks, blankets and straps are used often to provide support and help us go deeper. Please bring your own yoga mat. You can use a studio mat until you acquire your own. For beginners and continuing beginners. Level I emphasizes fundamental alignment principles with a concentration on standing postures. Seated and reclined postures will also be taught and will include gentle backbends, spinal twists, forward folds, and supported inversions. Regular practice of a Level I class will develop strength, flexibility, balance, and reduce stress while allowing the practitioner to cultivate discipline and sensitivity to their individual needs.

This class is for beginners and intermediate practitioners alike and will refine and elevate your current practice. Shoulder stand, backbends, seated twists, forward bends and some arm balances will be done in this class.
Level II Intermediate
Wed 7:30 - 9:00 am
This class is intended to meet the expanding needs of students who have been practicing regularly for an extended period of time. We will take our time exploring a broader range of postures with an emphasis on detail and clarity. Students should be comfortable pushing up to Urdhva Dhanurasana (Upward Bow or Wheel) with straight arms as well as be able to kick up to handstand at the wall unassisted.

Drop-in classes will be offered on 9/12, 9/19, and 9/26 from 9:30 - 10:30 am.
This class takes a "less is more" approach. We conserve energy without total passivity. We reclaim space, stillness, quietude, and with it we reclaim ease, peace, vitality, and clarity. Restorative yoga involves long holds and fewer poses such as twists, seated forward folds, supported backbends, hip and shoulder openers, reclined postures, and sometimes supportive use of the wall. Dim lighting, slow and gentle movements and subtle use of aromatherapies will support a meditative environment. On the final Wednesday of the month, we will have a longer final resting pose (~20 minutes) practicing Yoga Nidra- a state of consciousness between waking and sleeping in which the body is completely relaxed and the practitioner becomes increasingly aware of their own internal world. Bring socks, a favorite blanket, warm layers, and an eye pillow if you want.

Do you yearn to move but aches and pains are limiting your mobility? Or maybe you've had a knee, hip or shoulder issue that requires modifications. If so, then this is the class for you. We will move gently with the support of a chair to increase flexibility, mobilize and stabilize joints, refine balance, stretch gently and harness the power of quality breathing. Gonstead Clinic is not wheelchair accessible. The 8-Week Series requires pre-registration through the Mount Horeb Rec Department.
