How Do I Start Classes?
You can start taking drop-in classes any time. There are no start and end dates, as classes are drop-in and ongoing. This means that new students are always joining us so there is no need to be concerned about being new. You will feel right at home soon enough. Please arrive 10 minutes before class if you are new to register and pay for class.
How Do I Prepare for My First Yoga Class?
Leave at least two hours between meals and class time
Avoid wearing fragrances to class as some people are allergic to various scents
Yoga is best practiced barefoot
Always report any new injuries or health issues to your instructor to receive proper modifications
Bring a mat if you own one, otherwise you can borrow one
Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely. Stretchy fabrics are best but avoid excessively bulky clothing so the teacher can see your alignment.
What Class is Right for Me?
If you are new to yoga, Gentle Yoga, Mixed-Levels Yoga, Level I-Continuing Yoga, & Restorative Yoga are all appropriate places to start. If you aren't sure and would like to talk to a teacher, please contact us! All classes are described on the Classes Page.
How Do I Pay?
You can pay when you come with cash or check. There are various Pricing Options based on how often you plan on attending classes.
Do I Need to Call Ahead First?
You do not need to call ahead before you attend your first class. However, always feel free to call or contact us with any questions you may have.
How Often Should I Practice Yoga?
Whether you practice once a week or every day, the most important thing is that you practice yoga regularly. Commit to a regular practice and you will receive the benefits!
Can Children Attend Classes?
Children can attend yoga classes starting at age 8 as long as they are with a parent and are able to practice with the group and not create a distraction. Those who are ages 14 and up do not need a parent along to attend.
I am Pregnant, Can I Attend Classes?
It is recommended that you do not begin a yoga practice when you are pregnant. However, if you practiced yoga prior to pregnancy and would like to continue throughout your pregnancy you are welcome to attend group classes. Jill Johnson specializes in working with pregnant and postpartum women and will accept students throughout all trimesters of pregnancy. If Jill's classes do not work with your schedule you are welcome to attend any class. Please contact us before attending class if you are in your third trimester or have any complications with your pregnancy.
